Check out this smart wallet!

Last year I wrote about a “smart card” I wanted to get called Plastc. Shipping isn’t until the end of April 2016, so I don’t know yet whether or not it’ll live up to it’s incredible potential, which is to store up to 20 different credit cards’ information on just the one card. I’m still eagerly awaiting it.

In the meantime, however, I learned of another product which although bigger and less slick, looks promising as well. Check out the Wocket smart wallet. It’s one card that’s held in a slim wallet, and that has a touchscreen on the front. When you biometrically activate it based on your fingerprint or voice, it brings up the menu, and you pick which card you want to use. The wallet writes the card information onto the Wocket card, and you then use that.

One nice thing that this possesses over the Plastc card is that it’s battery lasts for a year, whereas you need to periodically charge the Plastc card. Also, it can store “thousands” of cards, including loyalty cards, whereas Plastc can do only twenty (twenty might be adequate for normal people, but not us churners!). Another thing that this product does that some of the other smart cards do not do is it also incorporates an encrypted password manager, both in the wallet and in it’s app, so that’s an added bonus.

I couldn’t find whether or not it works internationally, so I emailed them. Also, a bummer is that it doesn’t support EMV chip, so it’s not a perfect product.

Anyone have any experience with this one yet? Let us know in the comments.

  1. @Dustin – Nice, I like the review…nice-looking website too!

@jediwho – it says it works with debit cards, although Dustin above says no go on the ATM. Dustin can you answer his question since you’ve been using it?

  2. @jedi- Wocket says you can use at ATM, I did not have any luck with this. There were a few people I read who had some success, but not many. Hope that helps!

@andy- Thanks! I appreciate the kind words!
