Giving Away Alaska Upgrades for Thanksgiving

I have four AS Gold Guest Upgrades that expire 12/31/17 and will give them away to people posting a reply to this post.  These upgrade certificates are actually more valuable than in the past because Alaska has reduced their F class from four rows to three on most flights.  They did this to install Premium Economy in the first few rows of Economy which have increased legroom along with drinks and snacks.  Kind of a poor man’s F.  My wife, who is a MVPGold75K and myself, merely MVP Gold, have had a harder time getting free upgraded due to the reduced F seating.  That means using one of these Gold Guest Upgrades is more valuable since you jump ahead of all of us waiting elites.  To be fair, when I say it is harder, that means my wife’s upgrade % went from 90% upgraded to only 75% upgraded so it is still really good to be an elite on Alaska!  As a mere Gold, I was upgraded 95% last year (got lucky), but only 75% this year.a plane flying in the sky

I have had an issue in the past where people grabbed these because they were free, but then never used them (yes, I can tell if they are used).  So this year, the rules are that I will notify the winners on Sunday and then you have two weeks to book a flight, otherwise they go to another random person who posted a reply.  I just feel that is fair.  Remember that when you book the flight, you can’t use them on the cheapest fair.  You need to check the “Gold Guest Upgrade” box to see eligible fares.  This will bring up a separate column with the eligible fare class.  Also, note the “F” for each leg.  Colored in “F” boxes mean it is immediately available for an upgrade to F, but a non-colored in box means you are on the list for an upgrade.

  1. I would love to win two of these upgrades for our flight from SNA-SEA and return over Christmas, 12/22 and 12/26 return. The flights are already booked so not sure if we could use these or not. Thanks for the opportunity!

  2. Thanks for offering these. I used up all of mine this year already and plan to do another AS flight with my wife shortly to NY. I’ll definitely use them if I get them.

  3. Glenn, do you have to book the flight for the person or do you just give them the code to use? I’m just curious on how it’s utilized.

    1. I will need your last name and Record Locator to apply the upgrade. If you are selected, I will send you a private email to provide that.

  4. Thanks for offering Glenn. I am booking on AS SFO-SLC for early January soon. Assuming that they need to be booked by 12/31, rather than flown by 12/31, I would love to have them. Thank you.

  5. I could use them for my wife’s flight she has to IND. Wasn’t planning to book right away but certainly can. Thanks for being so generous!

  6. Would use these to fly me and/or wife from here in MSY to SEA. I have the same question about whether these expire for booking or for use by 12/31. Either way I’ll use them.

  7. Thanks for giving us the opportunity…I want to visit my 3 year old grandson who needs to see his Papa more often!

  8. My pregnant wife and I are taking a trip from Seattle to Tucson to celebrate before the arrival of our first child. Traveling in F would be an incredible addition to the trip.

    Thanks

  9. A free upgrade would make my cross country flight for Christmas a whole lot merrier! It’s awesome that you’re doing this!

  10. I have a round trip next week,
    Seattle-Sacramanto,
    and could use one.
but offer them to the long
    foks on distance flights
    first
