Over New Year’s Eve, my family and I decided to take a skiing vacation to Hokkaido. I’ve heard amazing things about the powder there, and also about the ski instruction for little kids there, including in English. My 5 year old son has never been skiing, so I wanted to introduce him there. It is…

On my recent trip to Djibouti, I traveled through Istanbul both ways on Turkish Airlines.  Being a Star Alliance Gold, I had free access to the Turkish Airlines Lounge.  Now I had to literally with through the entire airport to reach it, including the duty free shops, but I kind of think this was by…

Review: Westin Singapore Seaview Suite

This is slightly out of order, as after our excellent Singapore business class flight, we took Jetstar from SIN – Phuket, and stayed for three nights at the Holiday Inn Express Patong Beach, then took Jetstar back to Singapore. However, I already have this post written. The next stage in our awesome SE Asian trip…

Review: Singapore Business Class 777-200 Hong Kong to Singapore

Sorry I’ve been so delinquent on publishing reviews from our SE Asian trip in September. I’ve just been super busy with work and with family-related matters, as I’m sure most of you can imagine. These are the relevant reports so far:   Review: United Business Class 757-200 JFK to San Francisco Review: United Business Class…

Another consumer-unfriendly move from United

United has been trying very hard lately to disenfranchise it’s Mileageplus members. First, it mirrored Delta by adding PQDs in addition to PQMs or PQSs to achieve status with them (although some can still achieve status without PQDs). Then, it devalued it’s redemption rates on partner carriers.   I guess they figured in addition to…
